The movie “Running Brave” is the true
story about a half Indian half white boy named Billy Mills who loves to run. He
has the opportunity to show his skills to the coach of a university and is
granted a scholarship. He goes of to college, where he’s identity is brutally tested
at the price of his future. Spoiler alert, after he’s broke down, he finds strength
within himself and some wise word and proves to everyone “he is not a quitter!”
This movie does a good job showing the
audience the struggles of an Indian boy in a white-men competitive environment.
It delivers the message in a way that keeps the viewers attention but I feel
that it does not grab it and captivates the audience. That’s why I describe it
as a movie.
Even if you are not an Indian in a
white world, anyone can relate to the Billy because in some way or another we
all get tested in life to see if who we are living life like is truly us. This movie also tells the viewer that if you believe
in your true self you can accomplish your goals whatever they might be. The actors
did a great job. I believed those were real people. It was also a great choice
for class because the theme is exactly the same as the one being discussed. I’ve
had other classes were we see a movie that is slightly related to the point of discussion
in class and I end wasting 2 hours of class time for nothing.
To wrap things up, the teacher did a
great selection, the movie does a great job plot-wise, the characters feel like
they are real but its not a great movie. It’s simply, a movie.
